The old Roaddog hit 62 a while back and that means I can now get one of the great perks of being an American citizen. That is right! I now qualify for my lifetime National Parks pass. Can I get a big WOOO HOOOOO!!!

Over the years we have been to quite a few national parks and monuments and shown you some interesting things. We are now consolidating all the pictures, videos and whatever other info we find relevant. One of our goals for the Great Gypsy Experiment will be to visit as many National Parks and Monuments as we can. America is a beautiful country and there is much to see. We are within a few short years until we begin full time. Until then we will post as much as we can from our archives and before you know it this will become a valuable resource for any wannabe Roaddog.

So what is the differences between a National Park or Monument? And how about National Historic landmarks?

First off a National Park can only be made through an act of Congress, while a National Monument can be created with the stroke of a presidents pen. Other types of historic landmarks have different requirements and you can learn more about these at Eligibility - National Historic Landmarks (U.S. National Park Service)

Currently there are 63 National Parks, 130 National Monuments and many many historical landmarks.
