For the next 10 days we would be staying at Mount Hood Village which is in a great place to launch a visit to not only Mount Hood but the Columbia River Gorge. On this day we were going to go all the way around this incredible mountain.
We will check out Bonneville dam and Multnomah falls should be some great pictures.
Our path for today. Click on image to see enlarged version.
Nice view of MT. Hood.
Bonneville Dam during generation. The roar of water and amount of mist in the air is incredible.
Aview overlooking the fish ladders at Bonneville Dam with the generator wake beyond.
The fish ladders have underwater viewing windows. Here we see a whole bunch of lampreys which are very often mistaken with eels. They are actually a species of jawless fish more closely related to the Hagfish. Creepy for sure.
Multnomah falls, the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest. You will need to jockey for position but persistance pays off. It is also the tallest waterfall in Oregon.
Horsetail Falls another must see beauty in the Columbia River Gorge.
