Every year in the spring the wildflowers bloom in California and put on a very colorful show. It is beautiful but every few years when the state gets an over abundance of rain we experience a super bloom. And when that happens it brings the flowers and the people out in droves.

This year in 2023 we got record amount of rain and with it a superbloom of epic proportions. Today we find ourselves just outside of the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve in Lancaster California. The reserve didn't get as many flowers as I had expected but just outside the reserve the flowers go on for miles.

The hills shown here are in the Poppy Reserve. The flat land is part of the desert around it and the flowers are everywhere.

The wildflowers combine many colors all blooming at different times. The orange come in first followed by the yellows and then the purples and blues.

When the flowers grow in patches of one dominant color the canvas changes dramatically.
